PF Embroidery and Design

Since I retired, I've resurfaced my embroidery, sketching, crochet and sewing. Oh and how I'm loving it. This has all served to enhanced my meditations, prayers, my spirituality, my connection to the One who loved me into being.

The pillow to the left, was largely designed by me. The bunny drawing was influenced by a picture by an unknown artist, and seriously influenced by me. 😄 This was one of my first pieces that were purchased. Honestly, I miss my pillow but the lady who purchased it had several real connections to it and I believe the right person purchased it.

I've made totes, pillows, hoops, patches, brooches, necklaces, pendants, potholders, trivets, afghans, pictures and so much more. People always think of the piece beginning in a hoop and can't imagine what you would do with it. Ohhhh, so much more.

Here is a framed embroidery of an elephant. I was visiting my nephew, and each morning we would sit at the island with our sketching equipment. One of us would name a topic and this morning Kyle suggested, mammals. So I started drawing an elephant. When we were finished and oooing and awwing at one another's drawings, he mentioned that his father loves elephants. Well, I love my brothers to the ends of infinity, hmm. So I embroidered my drawing, framed it and sent it to his father. Jr. loves it.

Also, here is my sketch of the elephant that I drew that morning with Kyle.

I play in the local community band and love my bandmates. We've played together for over 15 years now. We have an announcer, who sings beautifully and also announces for us, facilitating the outdoor concerts. She'll come to each concert dressed in some kind of silly costume that highlights the theme. Our last concert was the "Animal Parade" where people bring their dogs and parade them across the stage while we play some piece over and over and over and over again. lol

Well, she came with a bunch of inflatable animal costumes. I choose to wear the cow costume. Oh my goodness, it's not easy to be a cow and play a piccolo:

Anyway, she does so much for us and I realized, while she was singing: What A Wonderful World with us, that we haven't shown our appreciation to her. So I embroidered a: Bluebird of Happiness using the stumpwork technique to present to her at our next concert which is this coming Saturday. The Maestro is so excited about this she is getting flowers too. Well, to the left is the Bluebird of Happiness just singing his little heart out
. The drawing was done by ArtsyDee and the design of the fabric by Mary B. (BTW, stumpwork is embroidery where parts of the embroidery are risen above or even completely separate from the rest of the embroidery. The Bluebird's beak and tail are both completely separate yet attached to the embroidery.)
Here are some of my pendants and brooches.

And here are some little girls dresses I've done with my friend, Loralea, who is a master seamstress. These are all my own designs and embroidery. The sewing is completely Loralea.

Well, I'm loving my "retired" life. I'm still doing Pastoral Counseling, preaching and all kinds of ministries because one can not retire from sharing and spreading God's love and helping to usher in God's unique Kindom.
